Neighborhood Life:
Life around East Hollywood is good.
There are two family owned neighborhood markets on the corner. Both of them have a limited but entirely livable selection of food, drinks, toiletries, and cleaners.
There is a Laundromat just around the corner on Melrose.
There is a bicycle culture emerging in Los Angeles that is using our block as one of it’s homes. This is primarily due a bike shop called Orange 20 and across the street, The Bicycle Kitchen. If you are in to biking, you’ll love Heliotrope. Each evening, bicycles are chained to every parking meter and sign post in sight.
There is a Rite-Aid drug store across the street from the Melrose/Vermont Redline Station, which has a huge selection of things you may need....
There is a major supermarket, Vons, a short walk from the Sunset/Vermont Redline Station.
There are a ton of hip shops and restaurants around Sunset Junction in Silverlake. This is a lovely 20 minute walk over something that LA-natives consider a mountain :)
There are also a load of fabulous restaurants on Vermont, up the hill in to Los Feliz.
Hollywood Blvd is also good for an afternoon of hilarity. Just hop off the Redline at Hollywood/Highland or Hollywood/Vine.
Griffith Park is where residents of this side of Los Angeles get away from it all for an hour or an afternoon. It is a couple miles away and well worth a visit. Activities range from hiking on mountainous trails to relaxing under a tree.
Runyon Canyon Park is a 15 minute walk from the Hollywood/Highland Redline Stop. This is a beautiful hiking park, not to be missed.
